You will arrive at a time in your life as a wine enthusiast when you take a leap and decide that you are ready to buy more than just one bottle of a wine you have taken a liking to. It strikes each of us – we get bitten by the wine bug and we want to store some extra bottles for another day.

There are a number of good reasons for wanting to store wine you enjoy. We discover a wine we like, and when we go back to purchase another bottle we discover that it is sold out and the winery has no more stock .

Good wine, unlike most other products, is a commodity with a limited supply for each particular vintage. It is a great idea that when you discover wines that you are passionate about that you locate a suitable wine cellar in which to cellar them for future consumption – one that keeps the wine in prime condition while the wines age under controlled conditions.

Cellaring wine correctly in a temperature and humidity controlled environment is essential in order to assist the graceful aging process of the wines being cellared and one of the top cellars I have come across in recent times is a BYO (Build your Own) Wine Cellar – either a single cabinet version that can hold 160 bottles, or a dual cabinet version that is capable of holding 320 bottles of wine.

160 bottles? 320 bottles? Is that enough storage capacity for wine?
Well unless you are throwing huge dinner parties every other weekend with 30-50 people arriving at a sitting, believe me when I say this is plenty of storage capacity.

A few years back I built a wine cellar in my house that could hold nearly 3000 bottles of wine. As my wine knowledge increased I started purchasing more and more wine in order to stock my enormous cellar until it reached the point that I could not consume the wine fast enough before some wines would spoil through over cellaring. After selling my house a new owner proceeded to do the exact same thing! The point is you don’t require wine storage for thousands of bottles of wine! A BYO deluxe wine cellar is an inexpensive option to install and assemble in your own home, providing you with a temperature and humidity controlled wine cellar with ample capacity for all your wine cellaring needs.

My recommendation for wine storage is first to consider your living environment, ensuring that a wine cellar can be accommodated within your home without doing any renovations, and secondly, that you consider realistically the amount of wine you are going to want to store.
